Regular readers of this blog know that I am an unapologetic baseball fan and a rabid fan of the REAL America’s Team, the Atlanta Braves. Today might be the final game of the Final Four (in case you’re interested, I am also a huge fan of whoever is playing the Florida Gators in anything, so I’m pulling for Ohio State) and we’ve also experienced the thrilling cliffhanger of Donald Trump and Vince McMahon’s battle of the bad hair billionaires on Wrestlemania (You know, I may be cynical, but I’m beginning to think that this professional wrestling thing may not be on the up and up).
But there was really only one story in the world of sports today in my never to be humble opinion… Today was Opening Day for the 2007-2008 Major League Baseball Season!
The Braves won their away opener in Philly, and it was a beaut. If this is an indication how this season is going to go, it is going to be a wild ride. This one had it all - great pitching, extra innings and a hero who was a hero twice. Edgar Renteria homered in the eighth to tie the game and then won the game with a two-run blast in the tenth. Brian McCann also delivered a two-run homer in the fourth inning and while Smoltz didn’t get the win, he avoided the all-too-frequent opening day loss.
All in all a great way to start the season. Go get ‘em boys!
BOOM boom boom boom BOOM boom boom boom…

LOVED it. Renteria didn’t seem to get the attention Adam Dunn did for his 2 homers, but he definitely should have.
